An evening purse from about 1922, made of tiny metal rings joined into a soft, flat mesh that pours through your fingers like fabric. The frame is plain silver-tone metal with a neat clasp, and a fine chain lets it hang from the wrist. Inside there is room for a lipstick, a key, and a folded note, which was all a dance required. When it catches the light the mesh glitters like frost on a window. It is still ready for an evening out. Carry it with black, with ivory, or with almost anything that is simple.

Very good: light signs of age, each one named in the details and shown in the photos.
Good: visible wear or an old repair, named and photographed; still ready to wear or use.
Fair: clear flaws or a repair it needs, named and photographed; chosen for its beauty or its history.
