A slip skirt from the late 1990s, when the simplest clothes were often the most beautiful. It is cut on the bias from ivory silk satin, so it skims the hips and falls into a soft ripple at the hem. The waist is a narrow band of elastic hidden inside a silk casing: nothing to fasten, nothing to catch. In daylight the satin looks like the inside of a shell. It moves with a quiet whisper when you walk. Wear it with a close knit top and bare feet at home, or with a camel coat and flat boots in the city.
