The story

Three doilies from the 1910s, crocheted by hand in fine white cotton, the largest in the shape of a star with twelve points. The patterns are worked in rings of pineapples, fans, and open mesh, and it is easy to imagine the evenings they took: a lamp, a hook, a ball of thread, and many hundreds of rounds. Stretched out, they look like frost or spider silk. Someone once hung them on an old wooden door, and they were even more beautiful there. Lay them under a vase, frame one, or simply keep them folded in tissue.
