A blouse from about 1912, made almost entirely of lace. Panels of lace in a floral pattern are joined to strips of openwork and finished with narrow ruffles, so no two parts of the blouse have quite the same texture. The sleeves are full and gathered into ruffled cuffs, and the front closes with a row of tiny buttons. It is light enough to see the day through. Worn now, it is less a piece of history than a piece of air. Wear it tucked into high-waisted jeans, or into a long dark skirt.
